Engineer & Project Coordinator - Orangeville
Emery Telecommunications & Video has an opening for an Engineering & Project Coordinator position. This individual will oversee all aspects for projects assigned. This will include the planning of projects, the engineering and construction of projects, and all reporting, testing, and finishing work of assigned projects. This person will personally engineer or work with contract engineers to help design projects and complete other engineering and project coordination requirements as required by the assigned projects. Other duties may be assigned.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
- New Project Development – This person must quickly be able to develop the scope of projects and tasks assigned. This will include gaining an understanding all expectations, and perform pre-engineering work, field visits, and other preparatory tasks.
- Cost Estimation and Forecasting - This person must be able to accurately provide cost estimations and cost forecasts to management on all projects assigned. This will include large and small cost estimates. This person must be very proficient in using excel and other cost estimation software as well as possess cost estimation skills.
- CADD Work/Computer Skills – This person must have or be able to gain proficiency in CADD and similar design and mapping software tools. These tools will be used for design, analysis, and job tracking requirements. This person must be comfortable on a computer and using different software platforms.
- Engineer Work – This person will either engineer the projects or work with contracted engineers to complete all engineering aspects of projects.
- Permitting and right-of-way work - This person will oversee the necessary permits and right-of-way agreements to complete the projects as assigned.
- Project Coordination Work – This person will serve as the main point of contact for all projects assigned. This person will work with contractors and internal employees to complete all projects.
- Relationship Building – This person must foster positive relationships with all organizations and entities involved in projects. This may include Emery Telcom customers, contractors, government agencies, private agencies, land owners, etc.
- Reporting – This person will need to provide continuous repots and updates on project progress, project changes, and related information as needed.
- This person must have strong analytical skills. This person must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- This person must possess the ability to be organized. This job requires the ability to pay close attention to detail and the possess the ability to work under tight deadlines. This person must be able to collaborate across departments and with external entities.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education and Experience: A bachelor degree Civil Engineering or a similar engineering field, or a degree in business and/or project management is preferred. Relevant related experience will also be considered.
Position Status: This is a full-time position with excellent benefits. This person will work out of the Orangeville engineering office, but will be asked to travel to assigned project sites.
